About Us |

Jazz Contingent was formed in the winter of 2009 and is comprised of seventeen musicians from around the Central and Western New York region. Local music educators, professional musicians and collegiate students are part of the personnel of Jazz Contingent. The common ground that brings all of Jazz Contingent’s members together is a love of contemporary large ensemble music. Jazz Contingent performs modern big band compositions and arrangements from the pens of Thad Jones, Jim McNeely, Bob Brookmeyer, John Fedchock, Bob Mintzer, and other contemporary big band composers and arrangers.
This ensemble will be performing at the Rochester International Jazz Festival on Saturday June 12, 2010 from 6-7pm under the "Jazz Tent" on the corner of Main and Gibbs. |
